The path for Manchester United's Under-21s in the Premier League 2 play-offs has become clear.

With the regular programme ending on Monday night, the Reds have secured a spot in the end-of-season knockouts.

Sixteen teams are left at this stage, with United ending up in 12th spot in the 26-team table, on the back of an entertaining 6-3 win at Southampton in the afternoon.

This term's new format means the title winners are decided in this fashion, rather than topping the league, a feat that was achieved by Tottenham Hotspur.

A top-12 place has also assured United of entry into the 2024/25 Premier League International Cup, at Under-23s level.

Our Premier League 2 round-of-16 fixture will be against Arsenal, who finished in fifth spot, with the game scheduled to be played on Friday (3 May) at Boreham Wood's Meadow Park ground, kicking off at 19:00 BST.

If we progress, Brighton & Hove Albion or Chelsea will provide the opposition in the quarter-finals.

The final is due to be played before the end of next month.
