Which three United fans will take penalties at Old Trafford and the Nou Camp? You decide. Get voting!

Ten football fans recently learnt all about the art of penalty-taking when they joined Denis Irwin and Andrew Cole for a spot-kick masterclass at Carrington.

The Betfair Penalty Champions winners, who hailed from all over the United Kingdom, took part in a training session before their best efforts were caught on camera. Now you can go online at and vote for your favourite kick. (Keep an eye out for the goalkeeper in the clips – it’s none other than our very own Nick Coppack.)

The three fans whose kicks garner the most votes will represent United against a trio of Barcelona supporters in a penalty challenge at Old Trafford. It will take place at half-time of the Reds’ clash with Arsenal on 13 December, with the second leg at Barcelona’s Nou Camp on 16 January.

“There were some decent penalties and it won’t be easy to pick the winners,” ex-Red Andrew Cole said. “But I’m sure whoever goes through will do United proud.

“Twelve yards can feel like a mile when you’re standing on the spot and it wasn’t something I particularly enjoyed during my career. But for the winners of this challenge, it’s an experience they’ll never forget. Taking penalties at Old Trafford and the Nou Camp is something only a handful of people have done.”
