Best ever away trip?

"Chelsea away in the FA Cup third round in ‘97/98 when we won 5-3. One of my mates, who is a Chelsea fan, took me in the hospitality area and to say he was gutted by half-time when we were 3-0 up is an understatement. It was a great day out and I didn’t even have to put my hand in my pocket for it!"

Red Heads: Nick Dawson

Name

: Nick Dawson Age: 42 From:  Walkden, Salford
Seat: East Stand lower, just to the left of the goal.
How it all began: It’s hereditary. My dad and uncle have both followed United for over 60 years.
First game: Bolton away in 1978/79. I went with my dad and uncle and even though we lost 3-0 I was hooked.
Best moment: Steve Bruce's two late goals against Sheffield Wednesday in ‘92/93. It was the moment we knew we could win the league. I think I ruptured every muscle in my body that day celebrating.
Worst moment: The Champions League defeat in Barcelona in ‘94. We just didn’t turn up. The worst part was the sound of 120,000 Barca fans taunting us with cries of ‘ole, ole, ole, ole.’ I don’t think I said five words to my mates on the journey home.
Favourite player: My vote goes to Giggs. Year after year he delivers, and even now you always feel he is capable of producing a moment of magic.
Best ever away trip: Chelsea away in the FA Cup third round in ‘97/98 when we won 5-3. One of my mates, who is a Chelsea fan, took me in the hospitality area and to say he was gutted by half-time when we were 3-0 up is an understatement. It was a great day out and I didn’t even have to put my hand in my pocket for it!
Most unusual place you’ve watched United: The Antelope pub in Little Hulton. It was the day of the 1977 FA Cup final, and as I was only nine, they wouldn’t let me and my mate in. We decided to climb on to the back roof and after worming our way into the vents, we watched the final through a small grid in the ceiling!
Finally, you’re an artist, have you ever painted any Reds? Yes, although it was a bit of a rushed job as I only had about four hours to do it. Hopefully people will think it’s a good likeness of Roy Keane.
