United’s Reserves will play Bolton in the Manchester Senior Cup final at Old Trafford on Monday 16 May (kick-off 19:00 BST).
The Reds’ second-string are unbeaten in this season’s competition, having won all six matches so far. One of those, a 4-0 victory, came against fellow finalists Bolton back in September.
On the way to the final, Warren Joyce’s men have scored 25 goals – at an average of more than four a game – and conceded just three. In one memorable match, Paul Scholes turned out for the Reserves and orchestrated an 8-0 trouncing of Bury.
Other first-team players to appear in the Manchester Senior Cup this term include Darren Fletcher, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Rafael, Anderson, Wes Brown, Gary Neville and John O’Shea.
Monday’s final will be free for season ticket holders, executive members, members, over-65s and under-18s. Entry for non-member adults will cost £5.
