United are taking a team to Curzon Ashton on Wednesday night to compete for the Jack Crompton Trophy.
Former Reds keeper Crompton (pictured) is club president with the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier outfit and the fixture will allow Warren Joyce to give some game-time to more of his Under-21 squad following the season opener at Stoke City last weekend.
It may present an opportunity for the likes of Luke Giverin, Luke Hendrie, Reece James, Charni Ekangamene, Jack Barmby, Gyliano van Velzen and Brazilian trialists Agnaldo and Gladstony to have a run-out although the squad for the trip has not been announced.
United played at the Tameside Stadium last year and won 4-1 with goals from Rafael Leao, Danny Drinkwater, Will Keane and Ravel Morrison. The Reds fielded two separate teams after making 11 changes at the interval.
The friendly is part of Curzon Ashton's 50th anniversary year celebrations and tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.
