the locals seemed entertained by a strange double act in the city's shopping centre: a man and a keyboard, his wife and a puppet! Doesn't get much more surreal than that. The injury situation has made this game an alluring prospect.
12:50 You can now read my interview with Matty James on ManUtd.com. I'm off to sample the local Christmas markets and seek out any United fans in the city. I'll report back soon.
12:20 Just interviewed Matty James. Lovely lad, and confident too that if he is called on this evening he'll do the shirt proud. Q&A to follow on ManUtd.com shortly.

10:10 I'll be talking to Matty James at lunchtime to find out how he's settling into first-team life. So look out for the Q&A on ManUtd.com this afternoon. After that I'm thinking of taking a walk into the centre of Wolfsburg (or Wo'burg as I call it) to sample some of the pre-match atmosphere... and the Christmas markets!
09:31 Good morning from a chilly and wet Wolfsburg - if this is a Mancunian welcome from our good friends in Germany, they've done a pretty good job! Matchday on these trips is normally a quiet affair until we approach kick-off. The players' only real instruction is to eat and rest...
Monday 7 December
20:03 Right, I'm off for a bite to eat and to sample Wolfsburg at night. I'll be back tomorrow with more from the Reds, including an interview with young Matty James, who's travelled out with the Reds squad. I'm also chatting to Bryan Robson tomorrow. So look out for more
