Blog: Rising to the challenge
Darren Fletcher is striving to develop his game amid fierce competition for midfield places...
I'm enjoying this season - it's going well for the team and I've played a lot more games than I did last season.
When you get a run in the team your form, fitness and all-round game improve. That's something I'm always trying to do - improve - because it's not enough just to go on the pitch and do alright. You have to go out and do really well to stay in the team at Manchester United.
That's something I have learned so I'm just trying to improve my game all the time and add a couple of goals like I did at the start of the season.
I'm trying to be more of a box to box midfielder - get in the opposition's box and score goals, get back to ours and defend. As I gain in experience and get older, it's going well but there's still more to come.
I look at Giggsy and Scholesy - even though they have achieved so much and are playing so well, they're always looking to improve.
You've got to improve every year because the standard in the Premier League rises every year. That's why you'll see the lads after training, doing that extra bit in the gym, or perhaps some extra passing or shooting practice.
The lads are really professional. There are 24 or 25 players in the squad and we all want to play so we're all pushing each other and ourselves to the limit.
We're striving to get that bit quicker, stronger, faster and improve our game.
