U18s slip to defeat at Reading

The Under18s slipped to their first defeat of the season away to Reading at the weekend.

Adam Bygrave and Nicholas Bignall scored for the home team, while young Reds forward Antonio Bryan found the net barely ten minutes after coming on as a 70th-minute substitute.

United started the campaign with a 2-2 draw against Ipswich but, despite being without a win so far this term, remain fourth in the Academy Premier League Group C.

Paul McGuinness' side will face Newcastle next on Saturday 2 September and will be looking for a first win this season.

United: Zieler, R. Eckersley (Derbyshire, 70), Chester, Cathcart, Drinkwater, C. Evans, McCormack (Wellbeck, 55), Eikrem (Bryan, 70), Fagan, Brandy, Galbraith.
