Gibson relishes cup pressure
Darron Gibson has come a long way since his loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2007, and he's determined to prove it on Wednesday as the Reds kick off the defence of the Carling Cup trophy.
The young Irish midfielder was an integral part of United's success in the competition last season, playing in every single match on the road to Wembley glory.
Although Sir Alex classes Gibson as more established squad member than untried youngster, the 21-year-old will be hoping the competition affords him his first start of the season.
"It's an important tournament for the young lads because it's where we get most of our first-team opportunities," Darron tells United Review. "We know we'll need to perform to our best because Wolves will bring a strong side."
