particularly in the games against the big teams. We’ve won at City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle... those results gave us a big platform to go forward.
I think last season has been in the back of our minds and perhaps subconsciously it gave us an extra motivation. But we’re always determined to succeed here no matter what – you can’t keep thinking about last season going into every game. You have to look forward. That’s one of the great things about the manager – he is looking forward regardless of whether we win or lose the league.
We’ve got a lot of experience and players who are maturing at the right time – there is a great mix in the team. I can honestly say that we all come into training every day with a smile on our faces. It’s a great place to work – the staff are great to work with and there is a brilliant spirit and togetherness amongst everyone.
As I said earlier, winning the league is an unbelievable feeling. It’s a first title for some of the lads in the squad and it acts as great motivation for everyone. It makes you hungry for more. When you experience that feeling you don’t want anyone else to have that feeling. You develop a selfishness and a determination to experience that feeling again and again and hopefully that will be the case in the future.
