Last season's infamous Champions League destruction of Roma has already been filed away as one of the classic European nights at Old Trafford.
The atmosphere around the ground in April last year was one of the most memorable in the club's history, with Sir Alex Ferguson admitting afterwards that United supporters can play a huge role in such nights.
"The fans can make a hell of a difference, there's no doubt about that," he said. "I think human nature means you respond to emotions, and the emotions of fans in games like Roma were absolutely magnificent, and the players responded accordingly."
With United 90 minutes away from reaching the 2007/08 Champions League semi-finals and Roma again providing the opposition, fans are being encouraged to again turn Old Trafford into a cauldron of noise and colour on Wednesday night.
The Stretford End Flags supporters' group are urging fans to bring scarves and flags for the match, and SEF will also have volunteers waving huge flags on the pitch before kick-off. Supporters are encouraged to bring the free red and white scarves distributed by the club before this year's Manchester derby.
