Your Wembley XI: Midfield

Our Carling Cup final polls continue with a plethora of midfield options for Sunday.

There are numerous players for you to pick from in the central and wide areas, even when you take into account two early pieces of team news:

- Sir Alex has already confirmed that Darron Gibson will start

- He also said: "The lads who’ve played in the competition all along will play."

The competition for the central midfield berth alongside Gibson will intensify if Anderson is passed fit, as Sir Alex suggested in his press conference last week. The Brazilian midfielder has started every Carling Cup tie this season but hasn't played in any competition since being stretchered off at the end of the semi-final, second leg win over Derby County at Old Trafford.

The Carling Cup may be touted as a competition for the kids but Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes have both played a part in getting United to Wembley, as have Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher as substitutes. Really the only junior contender to start with Gibson is Rodrigo Possebon - he impressed in the early rounds against Middlesbrough and QPR.

As for the flanks, Sir Alex now considers himself to have four quality wingers - Nani, Ji-sung Park and Cristiano Ronaldo plus January signing Zoran Tosic. All have featured in at least one Carling Cup squad this season, albeit Tosic was only an unused sub in the second leg against Derby.

So, who would you pick in midfield? Vote now at, and we'll publish the most popular XI on this Friday.
