Blog: En route to Asia journalist Nick Coppack will be your eyes and ears during United's pre-season tour of Asia...

By the time you read this, I’ll be sitting on a charter flight bound for Malaysia.

A few rows in front (and, let’s be honest, the other side of a class-dividing curtain) will be the likes of Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs. Even further ahead of them, overseeing his assembled flock of superstars, will be Sir Alex Ferguson.

United’s pre-season tour to the Far East officially begins when we land in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, but the wheels have been in motion since even before last year’s trip to South Africa. These things take a lot of planning, and an awful lot will happen in the next two weeks aside from four football matches (which you can watch live on MUTV and MUTV Online, remember).

And it’s these added events – first-team training, the press conferences, the coaching sessions with local youngsters, the charity and commercial activities – that I hope to bring to life for you, dear readers.

Whether it’s through short videos, still images, interviews with players and staff or my own observations and analysis, you’ll get the very latest news and views from within the United camp right here on

So check back regularly over the next two weeks for updates to the Live Blog and keep an eye on other areas of the site for our unrivalled coverage of the Reds’ Asia Tour.
