Scouting: Jukka Raitala

Talking Reds scout William Hancock says Finland defender Jukka Raitala looks an exciting prospect...

Player name: Jukka Raitala
Team: Finland, HJK Helsinki
Position: Defender
Age: 20

Match Scouted: England 2-1 Finland, 15 June 2009

Key Moment: Enjoyed a fantastic game at left-back, despite finishing on the losing side. Played a key role in reducing the threat of Theo Walcott and provided decent support to the Finnish attack.

Strengths: A versatile defender who can play anywhere across the back line. Tall enough to play at centre-back and has sufficient pace to operate as a full-back. Offers good support offensively with decent crossing ability.

Weaknesses: Inexperience. However, being involved in a tournament of this stature will certainly bring him on.

Suitability: Potentially the next Patrice Evra. Defensively solid, confident and skilful, he has all the qualities needed to become a really top left-back.

Estimated Cost: I think United could get him pretty cheaply from HJK. Newcastle are among several foreign clubs to have reportedly shown an interest in signing him.
