Your questions for Greenhoff

Ex-forward Jimmy Greenhoff will be 'On The Spot' for the final match programme of the season, and we'd like you to suggest questions.

He's an appropriate interviewee given the opposition at Old Trafford on Sunday 9 May are Stoke City - the club he was signed from in November 1976 for a bargain £120,000. The story goes that Stoke were forced to sell their star centre-forward following costly wind damage to their ground and their loss was definitely United's gain.

Joining his brother Brian on the Reds' playing staff, Jimmy formed an effective front-line partnership with fellow Yorkshireman Stuart "Pancho" Pearson. As a generation of United fans will fondly recall, their finest hour came in the 1977 FA Cup final when both strikers scored in the 2-1 triumph over Liverpool, albeit with Jimmy's winner being a deflection of Lou Macari's initial shot. The result wrecked the Merseysiders' hopes of winning the Treble and assured a place in Old Trafford folklore for Jimmy and co.

Greenhoff was Liverpool's nemesis again in 1979 when he nodded home the winner in the 1979 FA Cup semi-final replay - perhaps the most memorable of his 36 strikes in 119 (4) appearances. His last United goal was against the very same arch-rivals, in a home league win in April 1980. It was the first of six straight victories but Liverpool still took the title by a mere two points.

Jimmy also turned out for Leeds and Birmingham before United and Crewe, Toronto Blizzard, Port Vale and Rochdale afterwards and was for many of his peers 'the best player never to be capped by England.'

Please post your questions on our message board and we'll put the best ones to Jimmy on your behalf.
