Penalty Champions

Six lucky fans recently won the chance to represent their clubs in a two-legged penalty shootout. After the first leg, held at Old Trafford, United lead Barcelona 3-1. The second leg will take place in Spain next month. reporter Nick Coppack was on hand to cover the action on Monday night. In fact, he couldn't have got much closer: Nick went in goal and saved two penalty kicks.

Spot of bother

Back in the changing room, underneath South Stand, the three Reds were over the moon. They used phrases like “a dream come true” and “absolutely incredible” to describe the experience. I can't disagree.

But that's only half the story. In January the United contingent travels to Barcelona for the return leg at the Nou Camp. The Reds are in a commanding position – United lead 3-1 – and hope to return to Manchester crowned Betfair Penalty Champions. But anything could happen in Spain. After all, even the best players in the world sometimes miss from 12 yards. Just ask Wayne Rooney.
