18:05 There were plenty of raised eyebrows on Thursday when United were linked with a £50million move for Fernando Torres, and newly-installed Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has moved quickly to quash all speculation over his star player. "He is not for sale and we don't welcome any offers for him. We want to keep him," Hodgson is quoted as saying by bbc.co.uk.

17:59 Giovanni Ba, better known as Kiko Macheda's agent, has once again insisted that the Italian striker will remain at Old Trafford next season. "He stays at Manchester United," Ba told calciomercato.com. "I spoke last week with (Sir Alex) Ferguson. The club considers him absolutely unsellable."

14:30 Reserves right-back David Gray has joined Preston North End on a two-year deal. The Scot leaves Old Trafford on a free transfer after six years with the Reds. Best of luck, David, from everyone at United.
