Sunday 27 June
21:38 So it is with great sadness that the curtain comes down on ManUtd.com's World Cup blogs. Each and every United player is now out of the tournament, and will be heading off for a well-earned rest after a long, hard campaign. After that, Tony Strudwick and his fitness staff will be waiting for them, either at Carrington or on tour, preparing to whip them back into shape for the new season. The World Cup may go on but, for United's players, it's now all about 2010/11. Vamos!
21:32 I'm sure one or two members of Mexico's squad will be snapped up by decent European sides after these displays, but Sir Alex's decision to swoop for Chicharito before the World Cup has been validated. You could tag another £5million on him based on the strength of his four appearances. Two goals in around 170 minutes constitutes a decent return at his first World Cup, and scoring in the most important games suggests a great temperament. Very much looking forward to seeing him in Red.
21:29 Progressing from a tight Group A was a commendable feat for Javier Aguirre's side, but ultimately overcoming Maradona's quality-soaked Argentina was too big an ask. Upsetting, as the tournament has lost one of its most entertaining sides. I've particularly enjoyed watching El Tri over the last few weeks, and I'll definitely be keeping an eye on them in the future.
21:27 FT - Argentina 3 Mexico 1 - That's that. Mexico bow out with heads held high. Two first half mistakes; one from a linesman, one from Osorio, prove costly. Chicharito bagged a fine consolation goal, but for him and his compatriots the World Cup is now over. Argentina march on to face Germany in the quarter-finals.
