23:59 Disappointing. Just when I thought a rumour might ride in a the last minute and round off the week in style, the closest we got was from the North Wales Daily Post, who claim that Jack Rodwell will end speculation over his future and sign a new four year Everton contract next week. Boooo, on more than one level. Anyhow, that concludes the first week of The Gossip, I hope you've enjoyed it. 15:12 Can you hear that? That's the sound of the £500million mark stomping ever closer. Since starting this feature on Tuesday late-morning, the press have linked United with bids for £484million of talent. Surely they'll find a way to splurge another £16million before Friday's out?
