We asked fans outside Old Trafford which players they'd like to see in the Carling Cup third round trip to Scunthorpe...
“I’d like to see players like Darron Gibson and Federico Macheda play. I would have liked to have seen Tom Cleverley in action, but obviously he is now out on loan at Wigan. Corry Evans is another who could be given an opportunity to show what he can do. I think the boss will pick a similar team to the one that he played against Rangers, maybe with one or two other young lads thrown in.”
“I’d like to see Bebe come into the side, and it’d be good to see Macheda team up with Javier Hernandez too. It’s a good chance for all the young players to get a run-out. “I’d prefer the first-team to keep playing and get a run of wins going. I’d like to see us get our defence sorted out and playing together regularly. It’s not working at the moment and that’s perhaps because of all the changes we’ve made. That said, I thought Chris Smalling had a good game against Rangers. He seemed quite steady next to Rio.”
“Gibson has come on a lot, so he should play. I also like Obertan and I’d like to see him given a chance. Jonny Evans is one of the older younger heads now but mainly I’m looking forward to seeing Gibson and Obertan. They are my two favourite youngsters. I’ve not seen too much of Corry Evans, but what I have seen of him looks good so I say get him on the pitch too. I'm sure Sir Alex will mix it up a bit.”
“I’d like to see Gibson and Hernandez given an opportunity. But I still feel that this season Gabriel Obertan should be given a go, especially now Valencia is injured.”
