Trivia: Magpies deals

Newcastle United visited Old Trafford last weekend in the Barclays Premier League with three former Reds on the Magpies' current playing staff.

Danny Simpson, Gabriel Obertan and Alan Smith were the trio in question with the first two starting for Alan Pardew's side in the 1-1 draw.

This week's poser asked for six other players who have been involved in transfer deals between the two clubs since the 1980s - either way.

The answers we were looking for were Alan Davies, Liam O'Brien, Andy Cole, Keith Gillespie, Nicky Butt and Michael Owen but there must also be a mention for Giuseppe Rossi who, although not making a permanent move between the clubs, did have a loan spell on Tyneside before leaving United for Villarreal.
