Sir Alex Ferguson says that, in terms of execution, no goal in his time betters Wayne Rooney’s derby-winning overhead kick into the top corner; while the scorer insists it's the finest strike of his career. But is it the best United goal you’ve ever seen?

Rooney’s wondergoal on Saturday at Old Trafford has opened debate on the matter among many Reds, and while we fully expect a whole raft of other nominations to passionately be put forward, we’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Is it the best United goal you’ve ever seen? If so, why? Or are we simply on a giddy derby high? If it’s not the best Reds strike you’ve seen, which betters it and why?

"Best goal this season by far was Berbatov's overhead kick in the 3-2 win against Liverpool. It was further out than Rooney's and just as important a game. The best-ever goal was Giggs against Arsenal in the 99 FA Cup semi final. No contest."

"Even FIFA can't tell us which the best goal ever in football history is! There are no clear standards to compare goals so I never spend time considering if someone's goal is the best ever. I'm just happy they are among the best and we are lucky enough to watch them."
