We're asking fans to submit scouting reports during the UEFA Under-21 Championships. Here's one ' united_forever999' posted on our Talking Reds message board...
Player name: Javi Martinez
National team: Spain
Current club: Athletic Bilbao
Position: Central midfielder
Age: 22 (born 2 September 1998)
Match scouted: Spain 2-0 Czech Republic, 15 June 2011
Key moment: His composure on the ball was impressive throughout, with several long balls that started up attacks.
Strengths: His vision is superb, especially for someone who is only 22. He already has a World Cup winners' medal in his trophy cabinet, and even a World Cup cap after he replaced Xabi Alonso in a group match against Chile. He has the potential to become one of the top passers in the game, and playing with Iniesta and Xavi for the senior national team can only help his development. He is, in fact, seen as a potential replacement for Xavi, as is Cesc Fabregas. His all-round playmaking ability as well as his passing accuracy is impressive. He is the 'midfield engine' for his current club Athletic Bilbao.
Estimated cost: With reported interest from Liverpool, it could take a fee in the region of £12-14million to bring him to Old Trafford.
