Today at Old Trafford: 10-15 Dec

relaxed when we went 3-0 up or if Sunderland got a grip of the game, but towards the end they played very well and could have scored two or three goals. But up until then, some of our play was fantastic and we should have scored a lot of goals. I had no complaints for an hour though, our football was wonderful to watch." (GT)

17:31 We've got match reaction coming up from Sir Alex and Chris Smalling on very shortly. (BH)

17:29 That was a strange game in the end. I was really impressed with United's first-half performance and with Michael Carrick in particular. We played with pace and purpose. But the second half lacked the same energy and Sunderland came back into it. In the end, David De Gea made his way onto the Man of the Match shortlist, which really should have been the case. Anyway, it's a win with plenty of positives to go with it. (BH)

17:15 That was another important win for the Reds in what was an entertaining match. Have a read of Ben Hibbs' match report now. (GT)

14:51 With less than 10 minutes to go until kick-off, our matchday team is assembled in the press box. Ben is writing today’s match report - which you can read immediately after full-time - while James is running our Match Tracker service. Come on United! (MF)

14:43 As expected, John O’Shea has been named among Sunderland’s starters and the former Reds defender is even wearing the captain’s armband for the Black Cats. Today’s match is also the Irishman’s 300th Premier League appearance. (MF)
