A chance to shine

"With a number of big names unavailable, the experience in itself will prove vital for the second-string talents but each individual will have the desire to show they belong in such exalted company."

Blog: Opportunity knocks

Another tough customer is winger Robbie Brady, who made a real impact during the first half of his loan spell at Hull and provides real threat down the left flank. Fellow winger Jesse Lingard has matured nicely and looks to have the confidence to relish the step up, one deemed inevitable after smart work in the Reserves with a loan spell possibly on his agenda.

Bebe and Federico Macheda are players who had their temporary stints away from Old Trafford last term and the Italian, who started 2011/2012 in Joyce's team, has performed with distinction during previous tours, impressing when played down the middle. As one of only three attackers on the trip, he will aim to display his best form after an ankle injury cut short his campaign.

Everybody will be looking on keenly when the first match against AmaZulu gets underway on Wednesday - and here's hoping those mentioned perform as well as their displays have already promised. Sir Alex Ferguson will ensure the door is open to a regular place in the first-team squad for those who seize this priceless opportunity.
