A few weeks ago I used this blog to heap praise on Chicharito so I’m delighted he’s now back to his best. I really hope the Dubious Goals Committee decide he did score his maiden United hat-trick on Saturday as all the players signed the matchball in the dressing room. What a shame it would be if Ron Vlaar gets credited with an own goal instead; I’m sure the big Dutchman doesn’t want it!
If it turns out he only scored twice, it means Chicharito has now scored an impressive 40 goals in 94 appearances, 13 of them as a substitute. Only Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has scored more goals for United from the bench.
And that’s the perfect opportunity to say congratulations to Ole for winning a second successive league title with Molde. Anyone who saw him in action as United’s Reserves coach won’t be in the least bit surprised about his success. It looks like he has a bright future in management ahead of him.
