Today at Old Trafford

14:08 The folks at Sky Sports News have revealed what they believe will be England’s starting XI against San Marino this evening and it features no less than four United players. Their sources say Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck have all got the nod from Roy Hodgson. (MF)

13:18 Dutch legend Ronald de Boer has backed Robin van Persie to prove himself as one of the world’s greatest players now he’s quit Arsenal for United. “It was the right choice at the right moment for van Persie,” de Boer told TalkSport. “He had been at Arsenal for a long time and done everything, but didn’t really get the prizes and with United he has more chance to win silverware. It’s great for his career mentally, because he has to prove himself again and that will improve his game. I see him as potentially one of the best players in the world and it’s time for him to show it. And with this club he can do it.” (MF)

13:09 I caught up with Anderson at Carrington earlier for the Braga edition of our official match programme. The midfielder was on good form and told me he's getting in some good training this week while most of his team-mates are away on international duty. You can read what Ando had to say about Braga, the Champions League campaign so far and his goal target for the season in United Review on 23 October. (GT)

11:28 Chatting to Rafael in the corridor at Carrington yesterday, I had the pleasure of telling him he'd romped our Goal of the Month award for his strike against Liverpool. He was surprised, and delighted to have 'done the double' after also being named Player of the Month for September. Well deserved. (AB)
