McClair making music

Liam McClair, son of United legend Brian, made his Old Trafford debut during this season's Premier League encounter with Southampton - but not in the manner you might expect.

The aspiring singer-songwriter and former Reds Academy prospect had his track 'How' played at half time after spotting an advert from the club asking for local musical talent. The 22-year-old submitted his effort and deliberately failed to mention his dad in a bid to be recognised for his talent alone.

Liam's song was selected above all overs, giving his burgeoning career a boost. "I wanted to be judged on merit alone, so it was great to be picked," he explains. "Dad has been hugely supportive of me and even recorded the track being played at the stadium.

"I was busy recording my debut album on the day, so I couldn't make it to the game, but I've had lots of positive feedback since. It was great to be the second McClair being played at Old Trafford, too. Hopefully, this is just the start of things to come."

Liam McClair's debut EP, also called 'How', is available to buy on iTunes now.
