Fans are being urged to arrive early at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to witness the passing of a giant flag across the Stretford End to remember those who lost their lives in the Munich air disaster.
Supporters who sit in that section of the ground (West Stand tier 1) are particularly encouarged to arrive at the ground in good time (kick-off 16:00 GMT) in order to help move the flag from the south-west to the north-west corner of the ground. Fans who may feel uncomfortable finding themselves underneath the flag are asked to wait in the concourse area until kick-off.
The “surfer” flag will measure approximately 20m high by 30m wide and features an iconic image of the Busby Babes emblazoned with the words “We’ll Never Die”. Former Red Gary Neville selected the design from a shortlist of six fan submissions.
