Today at Old Trafford

The editorial team for ManUtd.com, United Review and Inside United provide regular updates from the home of the Reds...

Friday 10 May

17:20 Jose Mourinho has wished David Moyes well ahead of taking up his new job at Old Trafford on 1 July. The Real Madrid coach has endorsed the appointment in an interview with Sky Sports. "I wish Sir Alex a happy life and I wish David a successful career," he said. "I think David Moyes is a great choice. I like him as a person. I like his character as a manager." (AM)

17:15 I spoke with Michael Keane earlier today and wished him well for his promotion push at Leicester. The Foxes take on Watford this Sunday and lead 1-0 from the first leg as he dreams of playing at Wembley with his loan club. (AM)

14:30 The Scot also revealed he has made some recommendations for who his successor at Goodison Park should be: "The chairman asked me and I'll help Everton as much as I possibly can. He asked for my advice and we've spoken. Walter Smith was very good to me - he recommended me for the job [at Everton] and if there is anything I can do to help Bill Kenwright with what happens next then I'll be more than happy to do so." (GT)

14:25 Moyes added: "I wasn't planning to leave Everton. My contract was running out but if you'd have pushed me I'd have said my mind was swaying on staying at Everton. I'd got everything in place for next season - the preparations were ready, pre-season plans were underway and the chairman knew the route we wanted to go down. All we've ever done here is keep planning and preparing for what's next. And that's what I'd done." (GT)
