Rafael Excellent display. Penetrated in attack and displayed usual enthusiasm for defensive work. Made one goal, scored another. He’s going to be a cracking player.
Wes Brown Didn’t have a lot to do because Wigan provided so little threat in attack, but he was commanding nonetheless. Never really looked troubled.
Nemanja Vidic Solid throughout although Hugo Rodallega playing up front on his own rarely threatened the Serbian and partner Wes Brown.
Patrice Evra He’s taken to captain duties exceptionally well, and this was another performance where the Frenchman led by example.
Antonio Valencia Constant outlet, always available. Played his part in the first two goals, a clever cut-back for Carrick’s strike and the finish for his goal was incredible.
Darren Fletcher This wasn’t the most demanding task the Scot has faced, but he and Carrick made sure United dominated and allowed the front men to do the damage.
Michael Carrick Fine strike for the goal and alongside Fletcher he kept the pressure on Wigan, pinning the visitors back with his probing passes.
Ji-sung Park His movement and ability to find space allows United to attack
