Ratings by Ben Hibbs

Tomasz Kuszczak - Couldn’t do much with Dzeko’s powerful header, and made some smart saves but otherwise didn’t have a great deal to do.

Darren Fletcher - Not sure we can nickname him McVidic quite yet, but held his own. Passed well out of defence – this makeshift back line’s strength - and was strong in the tackle.

Michael Carrick - Lucky not to concede an early penalty for a foul on Makoto Hasebe after 12 minutes, but barely put a foot wrong otherwise. Top display. Rio who?

Patrice Evra - Captain for the night, Pat took to the role very well. He encouraged his team-mates and was rock-solid defensively.

Ji-sung Park - Covered a lot of ground as wing-back, providing defensive help in the first half. Tired after the break and didn’t stick with Schafer for Dzeko’s goal, but overall a valuable contribution.

Darron Gibson - Snapped at a shot when put through early on. But he passed the ball really well in midfield, often switching play with those raking cross-field balls.

Paul Scholes - On top form in the first half. Didn’t see as much possession immediately after the break, but United improved when he started pinging passes around again.

Anderson - A good performance from the Brazilian. Lively and energetic as we’ve come to expect from him and always looking for the killer through-ball.
