Edwin van der Sar The only worry at 40 years of age is what such a lack of movement and action in this cold weather does to his limbs (only joking Edwin!). The fans sang his name throughout the second half.
John O’Shea Can be pleased with his performance. Didn’t have anything to do defensively, but chipped in in attack, including the flick-on that got the scoring started.
Chris Smalling Calm and assured but, again, this was an easy afternoon defensively.
Nemanja Vidic Cleared anything aerially in the first half, then just sat back and enjoyed the attacking show like the rest of us.
Patrice Evra Went off at half-time, but he was a threat in the first half going forward .
Nani He’s not quite produced 2010’s form in 2011; but he was a constant threat down the right flank. Kept probing even when his final ball didn’t come to anything and he finally got a goal.
Michael Carrick It was a shame that injury forced him off so early in the game. He was running the midfield.
Anderson Full of life and energy, he was the bedrock of a rampantly attacking United display. He’s at his best and says there’s still more to come – a frightening thought.
Ryan Giggs There’s just no stopping him is there? Constant menace whether it was out wide on the left or pulling in-field. He came off after less than hour, but it was a destructive hour’s play from the 37-year-old and a fine finish for his goal.
