Re-live Wembley win

bench to make his first team debut in place of two-goal hero Robin van Persie. (MF)

15:38 The manager has journeyed to his technical area twice in the last few minutes, closely inspecting proceedings whilst shielding his eyes from the sun. He currently has Jonny Evans and Shinji Kagawa jogging along the sidelines. Is he plotting a change? (BA)

15:32 There was a lull in sound levels just after half-time – chicken balti pies sitting heavily, perhaps – but a section of Reds fans camped behind Scott Carson's goal are now keeping up a constant noise, getting their lungs match-fit for the start of the Premier League season next Saturday. (BA)

15:27 He got the biggest cheer when the teams were read out prior to kick-off, and he received another hefty ovation when he was taken off. Maximum respect shown for Ryan Giggs, who is now officially into a 24th consecutive season in the United first team. Add your own superlative. (BA)

15:24 Ryan Giggs has just left the action to a standing ovation from everyone inside Wembley, departing for Brazilian midfielder Anderson. Incredibly, the Welsh wizard is on course to claim his ninth Community Shield. What a man! (MF)

15:17 Immediately after that goal, Latics manager Owen Coyle made two changes... Grant Holt has been replaced by Marc-Antoine Fortune with Ben Watson exiting for Chris McCann. David Moyes has also brought Antonio Valencia on for Wilfried Zaha. (MF)

15:16 GOAL! He's done it again. Robin van Persie has scored his second goal, cutting inside from the edge of the area to hit a deflected shot off James Perch and into the back of the net. United 2 Wigan 0.

15:12 In the interests of journalistic enquiry I sampled the pies provided in the Wembley press box by way of half-time refreshment. Chicken balti, I can report. Quite tasty. Let's hope this second half has plenty of spice. (BA)
