Blog: United v Sociedad

79 So, Rooney pushes up ahead with Kagawa in behind, Young on the left flank.

78 Real win a free kick 25 yards out, and Pardo whips it harmlessly wide. Young replaces Hernandez.

76 It looks like Ashley Young will be on shortly as he listens to David Moyes. Agirretxe tries a volley on the run in the area but his effort flies high and wide of De Gea's goal.

75 Seferovic is off, Agirretxe on

74 Kagawa gets into the box but is hounded off the ball.

72 BTW Bayer Leverkusen are leading Shakhtar 4-0

70 But they need to finish it off, and Rooney has blasted wide from inside the area. He holds his head in his hands - that was a great chance to at least work the keeper.

68 The frames of the goals have taken a pounding at times tonight, and it's been a very open match but United are very much on the front foot at the moment.

67 Prieto off, Pardo on for the visitors.

64 Good work by Valencia on the right, he feeds Kagawa in the middle but his first touch is poor and his shot then goes straight at the keeper. That really should have been 2-0 to United.

63 United hit the post! Valencia is found by Rooney, runs into the box and places his shot across the keeper  - but it rolls onto the base of the far upright and rebounds away! Unlucky!

61 A spin away from a defender by Kagawa has the Japanese journalists in the press box as well as the crowd excited, but after feeding Rooney the attack ends with a tame shot at the keeper.

58 Valencia tries a shot from an acute angle but Bravo drops on it.
