put United in command, only for the venue to be silenced as City fought back.
But Robin van Persie's late free-kick sparked euphoria which continued long after the final whistle. After the game, Schmeichel presented signed United prizes to lucky winners, as well as posing for photographs and signing autographs for those who had been watching the game with him in the theatre.
With the venue still buzzing, fans were keen to discuss the game and share their excitement at the dramatic end. Sadaat Chowdhury, a 23-year-old student raised in Kuwait, said: "I think that was the closest thing I’ve ever come to being at Old Trafford.
"As soon as I entered the theatre I felt like I was in the stadium, being with my fellow Manchester United fans. It was incredible."
