Legendary Reds striker Andrew Cole also attended the event and was amazed by the amount of support shown by the fans, saying: “To come so far and be greeted the way I was greeted, it was very special.”
Cole was particularly stunned by the noise levels of the fans. “From minute one until well after the game, they never stopped cheering," he said. "I thought that was absolutely superb. It was something that I’ll remember for the rest of my life, for sure.”
Jakarta was the second in the series of #IAMUNITED fan parties and Cole was keen to emphasise the impact he sees the campaign as having.
The Treble-winner added: “They did it in New York before and have done it in Jakarta now. If this is the kind of response we're going to get, I can only see it getting bigger and bigger. It’s something you definitely want to be involved in.”
The ballot for tickets to the next #IAMUNITED fan party, due to take place in Kuwait on Sunday 9 December, is now open. Find more information and apply for tickets here.
