More than 1,200 Manchester United fans gathered in Delhi, India on 12 May to watch Sir Alex Ferguson lift the Barclays Premier League trophy for the final time at an #IAMUNITED fan party, presented by Airtel.
With supporters streaming to the venue hours before kick-off, an electric atmosphere was generated well before Sir Alex’s farewell. Fans gathered around three large screens in the multi-room venue to watch the final home fixture of the season against Swansea, many bringing flags and tributes to Sir Alex.
David May also attended to make the occasion even more memorable for the fans, with the ex-Reds defender taking part in a series of on-stage events.
The fans made their presence felt by celebrating and chanting throughout the game. They were also vocal in their excitement and thanks for the fan party.
Rio Ferdinand’s late winner started the celebrations, providing the perfect stage for Sir Alex’s Old Trafford send-off and the on-pitch presentation of the league trophy.
Dhruv Dua was crowned the United superfan and said it was the best day of his life. "Thanks to Manchester United and Airtel for bringing #IAMUNITED to Delhi – it was absolutely incredible," he said. "It was the greatest thing I've ever been to."
