Hundreds of Manchester United fans in Tokyo were thrilled when club legend Andy Cole joined them to watch the recent West Brom match.
The exclusive #IAMUNITED fan viewing party at Space O in the city’s Shibuya district was held in association with official partners Aeroflot, Shinsei, DHL and Manda. Before kick-off, the lucky attendees were able to have a photo taken with the Barclays Premier League trophy and view items of Reds memorabilia in a pop-up museum.
Four fans won the chance to show off their football skills to Cole, while three others got to ask him a question. One fan asked Andy, "When did Sir Alex get most angry with you?” The former striker replied: "There were many times! I remember we drew 1-1 against Chelsea at Old Trafford and I missed a great chance to win it in injury time. Sir Alex started shouting at me at the final whistle and didn’t stop for 10 minutes!"
The 400 or so fans who snapped up tickets for the party watched United claim a comfortable 3-0 win at The Hawthorns on a big screen, generating a terrific atmosphere and delightedly greeting the arrival of Shinji Kagawa off the bench in the second half. There was also a prize draw to win a signed Michael Carrick shirt and winner Masahiro Yamada declared: "My boss wasn’t happy with me leaving the office early but it was worth it!"
