United man runs desert race

Reds employee Rob James is about to embark on a gruelling seven-day race across the Atacama Desert in aid of the Manchester United Foundation.

Anyone who sponsors Rob - and therefore donates to the Foundation - will be entered into a prize draw to win two tickets to watch United's final home game against West Ham, a signed shirt or a signed football. Donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/robjames.

Rob, United's marketing manager in Asia, said: "It's great to be supporting the Foundation by doing something I enjoy. The Atacama Crossing is really challenging but my biggest worry is how to get the Villa and Roma results when I’m in the desert!"

John Shiels, Manchester United Foundation chief executive, said: "We wish Rob luck as he embarks on one of the toughest journeys of his life. We're proud to be associated with him. He's the picture of hard work and dedication and an excellent role model for young people."
