Chief executive David Gill says United will meet with council officials and the police in a bid to organise a public celebration later in the summer.
Discussions had taken place regarding a parade through Manchester on the team's return from Moscow. But following last week's ugly scenes in the city involving Glasgow Rangers fans, a decision has been taken to put proceedings on hold for now.
"We were planning a parade which clearly takes a lot of organisation," Gill told MUTV.
"But as a result of the issues last week [after the UEFA Cup final in Manchester] we announced that there wouldn't be one on Thursday when we got back.
"We'll be discussing this with Manchester City Council, Trafford Council and the police to see what can be done later in the summer."
