Ryan Giggs has become a patron of the East Cheshire Hospice's Capital Appeal.
Ryan visited the hospice in Macclesfield recently, meeting patients and staff. And, having seen the fantastic services they provide and what a difference the hospice makes to patients and their families, Ryan is behind the campaign to raise £2.5million.
The funds are required to help complete essential improvements to transform facilities, allowing the hospice to reach out to even more people in the area.
"It's a pleasure to become a patron of East Cheshire Hospice's Capital Appeal," said Ryan. "People know the hard work that hospices undertake and this one is no exception.
"Most of us have been touched by someone suffering from a life-limiting illness, but after visiting the hospice and meeting some of the patients, I got to see first-hand all the work that goes into the running of the centre.
"Despite what the patients are going through they still had a smile and it shows the importance of these hospices, not only for the patients but for their families, too. The nurses and volunteers work relentlessly but they still need more help which is why I wanted to get involved and try to bring awareness, especially to the Capital Appeal."
