Manchester United has launched a search to trace the relatives of its first ever team to play at Old Trafford, as part of its plans to commemorate the stadium's centenary next year.
The inaugural match took place on 19 February 1910 against Liverpool, with the visitors running out 4-3 winners. But over time, the Club has lost touch with some of the families of the team that day and is keen to trace the direct descendants of the following team members:
- Harry Moger
- Richard Duckworth
- Harold Halse
- Tom Homer
In addition, little is known of the whereabouts of the family of the then club secretary / manager J Ernest Mangnall and any help tracing his relatives would be greatly received.
Anyone with any knowledge should contact Manchester United Museum Curator, Mark Wylie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Final details of the celebrations around the anniversary have yet to be finalised and announcements will be made in due course.
