Former top-flight referee Graham Poll will be back at his favourite ground on Saturday to take charge of the United Relief game and has promised the crowd a few surprises.
A United XI, featuring no fewer than six Treble winners and a host of famous fans, will run out at Old Trafford against The Rivals, a team made up of ex-opposition players and supporters, including former Liverpool pair Ian Rush and Peter Beardsley and comedian (and City fan) Jason Manford. Poll will be taking charge of proceedings.
"We’ve got a few surprises planned for the day, which the crowd should enjoy," he told the United Relief matchday programme.
"I used to be known for not giving penalties for either team at Old Trafford, but you might see a couple on Saturday!
“Old Trafford was always my favourite ground to referee at and I was lucky enough to cover more than 30 games there. It'll be great to be back this weekend."
As well as watching club legends and famous fans in action, supporters will be treated to performances from a number of chart-toppers during a pre-match concert. Pop princesses The Saturdays will be playing live before kick-off, as will rapper Tinchy Stryder, indie band The Hoosiers and legendary crooner Tony Christie. Britain’s Got Talent dance troop Flawless will also be on hand to entertain the crowd.
