Manchester United shares began trading today (Friday) on the New York Stock Exchange, following a launch attended by some of the club's owners and directors.
Co-chairmen Joel Glazer and Avram Glazer, chief executive David Gill and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward were among the Reds' representatives at the ceremonial ringing of The Opening Bell. The bell podium was bedecked with the club's crest and colours, and the theme was further enhanced by an astroturf path, traders wearing the United shirt and stock exchange employees taking part in football challenges.
A large United banner also adorned the facade of the NYSE as well as those of the NYSE Euronext markets in Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris.
