Two of Manchester United's famous Treble winners, Andy Cole and Denis Irwin, will join DHL employees this Friday evening to help raise money for the BBC Children in Need appeal.
DHL, Official Logistics Partner of Manchester United, is giving its main call centre at East Midlands Airport to Children in Need for the night, and over 200 employees from across the business will be on hand to answer calls and take donations along with the two United legends and club mascot Fred The Red.
Andy and Denis will also be answering the best questions from fans via the @DHL_ManUtd account on Twitter. Start your questions with #AskAndy or #AskDenis.
“It's great to help raise money for a cause like Children in Need," says Andy, who also took part last year. "It has extra significance for me because I grew up not far from the call centre in Nottingham, so I hope we can do our bit again and help improve the lives of kids in this area and across the country.”
DHL’s Customer Services call centre was selected by the charity for its high service standards and extensive experience as it manages over 3 million calls a year, making it well equipped to man the phone lines from 19:00 until 00:30 on Friday night.
This is DHL's fourth year in a row of supporting Children in Need. Last year’s event was a striking success as Andy Cole was joined by former strike partner Dwight Yorke. On that occasion the DHL call centre took a staggering £116,000 in donations and raised an impressive £10,000 in their own fund raising efforts.
