Sir Alex has continued the club’s close association with the hospice following on from Sir Matt who was involved from the very beginning and present at the opening of phase one back in November 1991. The appeal for the new building was launched at Manchester Town Hall in July 2011 with the help of Kirsty Howard who continues to fundraise for Francis House through the 'Kirsty Club.'
It costs £3.5million a year to run Francis House with the extended part of the hospice, due to be completed in mid-2013, set to increase costs to approximately £4.6million. The Manchester United Foundation assists with the raising of vital funds to help cover the costs through various charity events and Francis House is also calling on the public to lend their support by making a donation via www.francishouse.org.uk or by calling the fundraising office on 0161 443 2200.
