Norm backs Charity Challenge

Reds legend Norman Whiteside is backing this summer's Charity Challenge, the annual seven-a-side football tournament that allows you and your friends to play at United's Carrington Training Complex.

The event is an opportunity to tread the pitch of your heroes, meet United legends and receive coaching advice from the best, while making a difference to the lives of young people in the community.

The day-long tournament is in its sixth year, kicks off at 10am on Saturday 22 June and players must be aged 16 or over.

"I was involved in it last year," Whiteside told ManUtd.com. "I went down with Lou Macari and had a lovely day. So many people turned up and the weather was great.

"I met loads of people and I'm on Twitter a lot so every single person Tweeted me afterwards saying what a great day they had and how well looked after they were.

"I think, first and foremost, it's a privilege just to get through the gates at Carrington! The facilities are excellent - some of the boys last year couldn't believe it as nobody gets that close to it. It's completely different to Old Trafford, that's a one-off match situation and the players only play there about 20 days a year.

"They train every day at Carrington and the facilities are all absolutely spot-on. The pitches are immaculate and it's a chance to come and enjoy it and see where the team comes every day. It's their place of work, if you like."
