Dwight Yorke, Bryan Robson and Norman Whiteside are the first football legends confirmed for PartyPoker.com’s unique, low-stakes ‘Road to Old Trafford’ event taking place at the Theatre of Dreams on the 9th and 10th August 2013.
Legendary striker Yorke was a key part of the 1998/99 treble winning squad and although he is yet to live up to those highs at the poker table is looking forward to the low-stakes event in August.
Joining Yorke is ‘Captain Marvel’ himself, Bryan Robson. The legendary former Manchester United skipper was known as a superb all-rounder with his great goal-scoring record, anticipation, movement, timing on and off the ball, bravery and stamina. He hopes that all of these attributes will stand him in good stead at the table in August:
“I haven’t played poker for a long time so it will be interesting to see how I fare against the professionals. I have been told that you need to keep your cool and not give too much away, which is also something I was taught when playing football and I am hoping that will help me out on the day!”
Playing alongside Robson and Yorke is Manchester United legend Norman Whiteside. The former midfielder is no stranger to the poker tables, finishing runner-up in the PartyPoker.com Sports Stars Challenge III back in 2008. He eventually lost out in the heads-up against PartyPoker’s own Kara Scott and Whiteside is relishing the chance of a re-match:
“They say football is a game of two halves, well I think poker is too. I’ve been training hard and I’m in good form. I’m looking forward to getting back on the felts and taking Kara on”.
