As part of the event, an exclusive website competition will be giving you the opportunity to win one of five copies of the brand new book, ‘Rio: My Decade as a Red’.
The fixture against Sevilla will mark over ten years of service to the Reds from Rio, who joined the club back in July 2002. Coming up through the youth system at West Ham, Rio joined Leeds for a British transfer record £18m in 2000, and then broke transfer record once again when he moved from Leeds to Man Utd for £30m. Since then he has featured in the PFA Team of the Year three times, captained the England national team and won 11 major trophies.
‘Rio: My Decade as a Red’ is not only a visual celebration of Rio Ferdinand’s phenomenal career in football, which has reached the very highest levels of success, but also a personal document. It presents Rio’s own comments and perspective on the key moments of his life in the beautiful game – both on and off the pitch. Approximately 300 images, many of them exclusive or rarely seen, illustrate Rio’s career at West Ham, Leeds United and Manchester United in addition to his progress at international level.
The competition to win a signed copy of the book is now open and will run until midnight on Sunday 18 August – click here to enter the competition. You will first be asked to log in or register if you have not already done so. Then you will be taken to the competition page where you will need to answer a Rio Ferdinand related question for your chance to win. Good Luck!
